It is really, really important to relax! Allow yourself time for fun and relaxation away from where you are studying to avoid exhaustion. Schedule yourself regular study breaks and make sure you get enough exercise and sleep to keep yourself relaxed and refreshed. If at any point you feel you are losing concentration, take a little break. Your mind is probably tired and you will become unproductive if you continue to study (ever zoned out and realised you’ve just read the same sentence five times??).

Research has shown that taking a 10 minute break for every hour of study will help your brain learn and remember things as well as lengthening your concentration span. So, don’t overload your brain during a study session. You are definitely not wasting time by taking a study break – you are helping yourself work more effectively!
